Carrying items separately makes you feel even lighter. The benefits of using the popular wallet "Cram" and card case "Tuck" together.

The most popular wallet at Munekawa is the Cram, an L-shaped zip wallet. Despite its palm-sized design, it is popular for being able to hold bills, coins, and cards all at once.

However, as you go about your daily life, cards such as membership cards and point cards tend to accumulate little by little. You may find that before you know it, your wallet has become cramped.

In such cases, we recommend carrying the Cram and the Tuck IC card case together.

The Tuck is a reliable card case that features three pockets despite its compact size. Simply dividing your cards between these two based on how often you use them will make daily payments and everyday tasks feel smooth and effortless.

This time, we asked a production staff member who actually uses the Cram and Tuck together about specific ways to organize cards and the real benefits they experience every day.

The Role of the Cram and the Tuck

First, let’s briefly introduce what each product is.

L-shaped Zip Wallet Cram

The Cram is a mini wallet that allows you to see all your bills, coins, and cards at a glance simply by opening its L-shaped zipper.

Everything you need for payment fits neatly in the palm of your hand, with a thickness of approximately 1.7 cm.

Cards can be stored separately in the two-tier holder on the right and the sleeve on the left, holding approximately 5 to 7 cards in total.

IC Card Case Tuck

The Tuck, on the other hand, is a card case measuring 9.7 cm wide and only about 6 mm thick. It is extremely light, weighing approximately 22 g, and is slim enough to fit easily into a shirt chest pocket or pants pocket.

Despite its slim design, it has three pockets that can each be used for a different purpose.

The front pocket is deep enough to completely conceal a card and can be tapped while the IC card is still inside. The back pocket is designed so that approximately 1.5 cm of the card is visible, allowing you to easily pull it out by hooking your finger around it.

The main pocket with a snap closure can hold cards and business cards together. It can hold approximately 5 to 7 cards in total.

How the Staff Organizes Their Cards | 8 in the Cram, 4 in the Tuck

The production staff member who actually carries both has 8 cards in the Cram and 4 in the Tuck.

The cards in the Tuck include a commuter pass, main credit cards, and an ID. Since the cards you use most often are fairly set, they use a simple method of moving just a few of those top-tier cards to the Tuck and keeping the rest in the Cram. (Staff)

The inside of the Tuck can be organized as follows to make daily tasks very smooth.

  • Front pocket
Transportation IC cards and IC commuter passes (cards you tap)
  • Back pocket
Main credit cards (cards you take out frequently)
  • Main pocket
ID, membership cards, and a few business cards

Three Benefits of Carrying the Cram + Tuck Together

1. Distribute the capacity to keep your wallet slim

If you try to cram all your cards into a single wallet, it will inevitably become thick. By distributing them between two, you can carry both the Cram and the Tuck while maintaining their original slimness.

The staff member says that by combining the Cram and the Tuck, they are able to carry both smartly without either becoming bulky. Because the inside of the Cram has a moderate amount of extra space, it is also much easier to take bills and coins in and out.

2. By dividing cards by frequency of use, you can quickly have them at hand

If you keep your most frequently used cards together in the Tuck, you do not need to open your wallet when going through a ticket gate or paying at a register.

At a ticket gate, simply take it out of your pocket and tap it; at a register, just pull one out of the back pocket. This eliminates the stress of opening your wallet every time you pay and searching, “Where was that card again?”

Unsnapping the Tuck to take out a card

The staff member also carries the Tuck in their pants pocket every day. Because it does not bulk up like a wallet, it is not noticeable even when it is in your pocket. “The wallet goes in the bag, and the Tuck goes in the pocket”—being able to give each its own place is another benefit of carrying two.

3. Reduces wear on both your leather wallet and clothing

Consolidating your belongings into one may seem effortless at first glance, but if your wallet becomes bulgingly full, it takes effort to take things in and out, and the naturally beautiful appearance of a leather wallet is also compromised.

Fitting the Cram and Tuck into pants pockets

What the staff member is particularly concerned about is the strain on leather and clothing when using items for a long time.

A wallet that is overstuffed can put excessive strain on the leather and stitching, which may cause it to break. It also makes the fabric of the pants or jacket pocket where the wallet is kept more prone to rubbing and wear.

Distributing the contents between two items and leaving a moderate amount of extra space can be said to lead to keeping both your precious leather goods and clothing beautiful for a long time.

The only downside is “carrying one more item”

If there is one downside to mention, it would be “carrying one more item.”For those who want to carry as few things as possible, this may be a point of concern.

However, the Tuck weighs only about 22 g. It is light enough that you will not notice it even when it is in your pocket. Also, the worry that “you may forget which one you put what in” can be resolved by simply establishing a rule such as “daily-use cards go in the Tuck, and everything else goes in the Cram” and making it a habit.

Recommended for those who

Carrying the Cram and Tuck together is a good fit for people who, for example:

  • Use the Cram but are concerned about the thickness of their wallet as their card collection grows
  • Want to use their card smoothly at ticket gates or registers without opening their wallet
  • Want to separate where they carry their items, with “the wallet in the bag and frequently used cards in the pocket”
  • Are considering purchasing the Cram and want to think about how to carry their cards at the same time

Summary

Carrying the Cram and Tuck together is the idea of simply dividing cards by “frequency of use.” You can keep your wallet slim and neat while always having your frequently used cards at hand. Furthermore, it has the benefit of being less likely to damage your favorite leather wallet or clothing, allowing you to enjoy them for a long time.

This is a recommended way to use them that lets you experience a level of daily lightness and comfortable usability that far outweighs the addition of one more item. Please consider adopting a wallet + card case style.
