Our commitments
Designed to last
We take the making process of our product very seriously
for customers to use for a long time.
From 1999 to the present, Munekawa as we know it today has been created by repeatedly "giving form to ideas born from craftsmanship."
During the production process, mistakes or coincidences can give rise to ideas, which can then lead to innovation.
These are small innovations that may not catch your eye unless you look closely, but the detailed processes that are possible only when we produce in small quantities underpin the functionality and durability of our products.
We create our products with the hope that they will become indispensable and beloved items that will last for many years to come.
[Made with fewer parts]
By reducing the number of parts, you can feel the natural tension of the leather and the number of connection points such as stitching is reduced, which leads to fewer points of failure.
[Use leather for the lining]
Using leather for the lining not only makes it easier for bills, coins, cards, etc. to be inserted and removed smoothly, but also increases the strength of the inside of the product, making it less likely to wear out from the inside.
[Backstitch]
Openings such as pockets are subjected to high tension on the leather and thread, requiring strength, so they are triple-stitched to prevent fraying of the thread and tearing of the leather.
This process allows you to open the opening wide without any worries.
[Polishing the edge (cut surface)]
This is the final finishing process. Cotton cloth is wrapped around the fingers, the edges are soaked in a sealant, and then polished to harden. This process makes the leather feel smooth when held in the hand.
This is an important process that determines the appearance of the product, so we take our time and polish it carefully.
