Munekawa leather products are planned, designed, and crafted entirely in our studio in Daikokucho, Osaka. Because our small team produces each item by hand one by one, the product or color you want may not always be available.

While there may be times when you have to wait, we offer "Pre-order" and "Restock Notification" systems so that we can deliver our products to those who wish to purchase them.
This article provides a summary of how to interpret product page displays and the delivery process for items that cannot be shipped immediately. We hope you find this guide helpful for a worry-free shopping experience.
How to read product page displays
On Munekawa product pages, selecting your preferred color will change the display next to the color name and on the purchase button. As delivery times can vary by color even for the same product, please check the display after selecting your desired color. The display patterns are generally divided into the following three types.
① Color name only (Regular purchase)

If there is nothing next to the color name and an "Add to Cart" button is displayed, it means we have finished stock at our studio. After you place your order, it will be shipped from the studio within a few days as usual.
② "Pre-order" next to color name (Pre-order)

If there is an "Add to Cart" button and a delivery time is displayed next to the color name, it means there is no finished stock available. In this case, you can place a "Pre-order." We will begin crafting the item after receiving your order and will ship it once it is complete.
The delivery time display changes based on our production schedule as follows:
- Pre-order: Approx. 2 months: Please allow about 2 months for completion.
- Pre-order: Expected completion mid-XXX: Displayed when a completion period is set.
- Pre-order: Delivery date TBD: We will confirm our production schedule after your order and notify you of the delivery date.
③ Color swatch is crossed out with "Restock Notification" (Currently unavailable for order)

If the color swatch is crossed out and displays a "Receive Restock Notification" button, it means we are currently out of stock and have temporarily suspended orders. Please check "About Restock Notifications" in the latter part of this page.
| Screen Display | Status | Can I order now? | Estimated Delivery |
|---|---|---|---|
| ① Color name only | Regular Purchase (In stock) | ◎ Can order immediately | Ships within a few days (*Excludes long holidays like New Year) |
| ② Color + "Pre-order: Approx. 2 months" etc. | Pre-order (Crafted after order) | ◎ Can order immediately | As per displayed delivery time/estimated completion |
| ③ Color crossed out + "Restock Notification" | Orders suspended (Out of stock) | × Cannot order now | We will notify you when orders/stock return |
Pre-order process

When purchasing via "Pre-order," your order will proceed as follows from placement to delivery.
[STEP 1] Order placement
Select your preferred color and proceed with your order via the cart as you would for a regular purchase.
-
Purchasing with in-stock items
If you order in-stock items and pre-order items together, you can choose to have everything shipped at once when the pre-order items are complete, or to have them shipped separately. Please note this in the remarks section during checkout or feel free to contact our support desk. If shipped separately, shipping fees will apply to each delivery. (Domestic shipping is a flat 990 yen nationwide.)
-
Delivery Date Requests
Although you can select a delivery date on the checkout screen, we cannot accommodate specific delivery dates for pre-orders. Please keep the delivery date as "Unspecified." You may still specify a delivery time slot.
[STEP 2] Crafting at the studio
After placing your order, you will receive an automated order confirmation email, followed by a message informing you of the delivery timeframe for your pre-ordered item.
After that, our production staff at the Daikokucho, Osaka studio will carefully craft each item one by one.
While it depends on our production schedule, we generally require about 2 months from the time your order is confirmed. Orders placed between mid-November and February may take up to 3 months due to our busy season. If you have a specific date for a gift, such as Christmas, please consider ordering well in advance.
[STEP 3] Completion and Delivery
Once the product is finished and has passed final inspection, we will send you a completion notice email. At this time, we will inform you of the scheduled shipping date and ask for your preferred delivery date and time. We will then carefully pack and ship your item from our studio (you will receive a shipping confirmation email with a tracking number).

[Cancellations after ordering]
For regular products without personalization like name embossing, we accept cancellations before shipping.
However, please note that we cannot accept cancellations for products that have been personalized with name embossing.
[International delivery]
For international shipments, delivery dates and times cannot be specified. We will notify you of the delivery timeframe after your order is placed, and once the product is complete, we will ship it directly without sending an intermediate completion notice. You will receive a tracking number in the shipping confirmation email.

About Restock Notifications
If the color you wanted is sold out or not accepting pre-orders, please use the "Receive Restock Notification" feature.

By registering your email address via the button, you will be automatically notified when stock becomes available or when pre-orders open again. We will notify you of new production runs for both regular products and limited-edition items with limited quantities.
By registering, you won't miss the opportunity to place an order, so please take advantage of this service.
[Important usage notes]
The restock notification does not guarantee a product reservation (hold). If supply is limited, items may sell out immediately after the notification is sent. We recommend checking the product page as soon as you receive the notification.
Why there is a production period
As mentioned at the beginning, Munekawa handles everything from planning and production to finishing with a team of four craftsmen at our Daikokucho, Osaka studio.
The creation of a single product involves numerous steps, including leather cutting, thinning, gluing, sewing, edge polishing, and final inspection.

Because each step is performed manually by our craftsmen, the number of items that can be produced at once is naturally limited, and sometimes we are unable to keep inventory on hand.
However, this method of production is the backbone of Munekawa's quality and is an essential process we cannot compromise on to create the ideal products.
A period of about 2 months is the time necessary to maintain this level of craftsmanship. While you have to wait, we will deliver an item you can use for many years to come, so we hope you look forward to receiving it.
