1. Magnetic attachment means no more searching for storage

The leather magnetic coaster has "neodymium magnets" embedded inside, allowing it to stick to refrigerators or steel surfaces.

If you regularly use coasters, have you ever struggled with finding a storage spot or a designated place for them? You can't just leave them on the table, but storing them in a kitchen drawer can take up surprisingly a lot of space.

To solve this "minor inconvenience," we've used strong magnets. You can store them by sticking them firmly to refrigerators, desk legs, or the sides of steel carts.

They also stick to steel desks, so the coaster won't stick to the bottom of your glass and lift with it, nor will it shift if you accidentally bump it while working.

2. Water-resistant chrome leather and seamless construction

Coasters are items that frequently come into contact with water droplets from cold glasses. Therefore, we've used water-resistant chrome leather for this product.

Furthermore, by intentionally avoiding stitching, we prevent moisture from penetrating through needle holes. This design also minimizes warping and mold growth since humidity doesn't seep inside.

We've inserted a core material inside to prevent warping, and the leather edges are carefully coated multiple times with pigment to enhance their waterproof properties.

Development Background

The idea began with a casual remark during a staff meeting:

"Coasters are used every day, but finding a place for them is a hassle."

That's when the idea came up: "Wouldn't it be convenient if they had magnets so they could stick to refrigerators or steel tables?" We immediately started making samples.

After testing the prototypes for about two weeks, the usability was excellent, and above all, we truly realized the "convenience of being able to stick them exactly where you want to use them," which led to product development.

This leather coaster was born from a casual conversation, a small idea quickly put into action, and shaped by our own hands through testing its usability. This is a testament to Munekawa's style, handling everything from planning to production and finishing with a small team.

Care and Tips for Long-Lasting Use

Chrome leather is a leather material that is highly resistant to water and dirt.

For daily care, simply wipe it with a tightly wrung damp cloth. Regular oil treatment, typical for other leather goods, is generally not necessary, so you can use it with peace of mind.

To maintain its waterproof properties for a long time, the key is to avoid rubbing it strongly with hard or sharp objects. Chrome leather has a thin resin coating on its surface, which prevents water penetration. If this coating is rubbed off and broken, water may easily seep in, so please be careful.

• The embedded neodymium magnets are extremely strong. For safety, please keep them away from precision instruments such as watches and smartphones, and cards with magnetic strips like credit cards.
