革製品のお手入れで陥りやすい5つの誤解と、正しいお手入れ方法
革財布や革小物を購入したものの、「正しいお手入れ方法が分からない」と悩んだことはありませんか？ 革のお手入れに関する情報は色々なところで見ることができますが、「どれが正しい情報なのか、たくさんありすぎてよくわからない」という方も多いようです。 中には、自己流のお手入れで、大切な革財布を痛めてしまうケースも少なくありません。 この記事では、日々革製品の製作・販売を行なっているMunekawaなりの視点で、革財布ケア初心者の方が陥りやすい5つの誤解と正しい対処法をご紹介します。 革製品を使い始めたばかりの方、これから革小物を使ってみようと思っている方は是非参考にしてみてください。 誤解1：「革財布は丈夫だからお手入れは不要」 革は丈夫で長持ちする素材、というイメージをお持ちの方もおられるでしょう。 実際、革は耐久性に優れ、ラフに使うことで味のある経年変化（エイジング）を楽しめる素材でもあります。 しかし、完全にお手入れ不要というわけではありません。 長期間何もせずにいると、ホコリや皮脂が蓄積し、場合によっては革が劣化したり、カビの原因になることも。 人の肌が保湿を必要とするように、革も定期的なケアをすることでより長く、綺麗な状態で使うことができます。 月に1回の基本ケア 柔らかい布や馬毛ブラシなどで乾拭きする 革用の保湿クリームを薄く塗る（必要に応じて） 防水スプレーを適度に使用する 軽いケアを月に1回程度するだけで、革財布は見違えるほど長持ちします。 ▶︎参考記事；革の種類ごとのお手入れ方法のご紹介 誤解2：「毎日オイルを塗ると革が長持ちする」 一方で、革財布を大切に思うあまり、毎日のようにオイルやクリームを塗ってしまう方もいますが、これは逆効果。 革に油分が過剰に蓄積すると、べたつきやカビの原因になったり、革にハリやコシがなくなってしまうことにもつながります。 月に1〜2回、適量を薄く塗る程度でOK。 クリームやオイルは少量を薄く伸ばし、余分なものは必ず乾拭きで取り除きましょう。表面が少し潤ったくらいで十分です。 誤解3：「革が濡れたらすぐに擦って拭き取る、またはドライヤーで乾かす」 雨や水濡れ時に慌てて革を強く擦ったり、ドライヤーの熱風で乾かすと、革の表面が傷つき、ヒビ割れや変形の原因になります。 水に濡れてしまった時も慌てず、落ち着いて。優しくポンポンと水気を取って自然乾燥することが大切です。 乾いた布やティッシュで軽く叩くように水分を取る 風通しの良い場所で陰干しをする 乾燥後に保湿クリームを薄く塗る ▶︎参考記事 ：革の水シミとキズ...
