Leather is a durable material. Depending on how you use it, you can continue to use it for 10 or 20 years. In fact, many of Munekawa's customers have been using the same wallet for decades.
However, no matter how carefully you use it, there is one part that will inevitably break: the hook and eye button.

Depending on how often you use them, hook and eye buttons can become difficult to open and close after a few years due to metal fatigue, or they can even crack. This is an unavoidable phenomenon due to the properties of metal.
It would be a shame to have a leather wallet that has been carefully developed to have a beautiful texture become unusable because the snap breaks. At Munekawa , we repair snap buttons for free because they are a part that will eventually break.
Munekawa hook repair
Free for any number of years
There is no repair fee for snap repairs on Munekawa products, no matter how many years have passed since purchase or how many times the repair is done .

Hook and eye buttons are consumable items. We believe that repairing hook and eye buttons is a necessary part of maintenance to ensure that the leather product itself lasts a long time.
Same-day repairs are possible (at directly managed stores)
If you bring it to a store, we can replace it with a new snap button on the spot and return it to you the same day. The process usually takes about 15 minutes.

No special reservation is required, but you may have to wait if it is busy. Please feel free to drop in any time during business hours.

Why do hook and eye buttons break?
The mechanism by which a hook and eye button opens and closes is based on the "elasticity of metal." Each time you use it, the metal undergoes a minute deformation and then returns to its original shape.
This repeated action gradually wears down the metal. If you open and close it 10 times a day, that's about 3,600 times in a year. It's no wonder that after several years of use, the metal reaches its limit.

Especially in products like wallets that are opened and closed frequently, the stress on the snap button is considerable. No matter how high quality the metal fittings are, they will not last forever.
Creating products with repair in mind
At Munekawa, we consider "ease of repair" from the product design stage, based on the assumption that "if a product is used continuously, it will eventually break."
Simple structure
We have avoided unnecessary decoration and complex structures as much as possible and have constructed our products with the minimum number of parts necessary, which simplifies repair work and minimizes the impact on other parts.

Ease of replacing parts
Not only the hook and eye buttons, but also parts that are prone to wear, such as zippers and threads, are designed to be easily replaceable, so if one part breaks, you don't have to give up the entire product.
Securing repair parts
We handle everything from product planning to design and manufacturing in-house, and have continuously stocked repair parts since our founding. No matter how old a product is, we will repair it using parts with the same specifications as much as possible.
