Why do you need a key case?
When we think about why we use a key case, we think its main role is to protect the items that are placed together with the keys (wallet, smartphone, notebook, business card holder, etc.) from scratches when you put them in your bag or pocket.
In addition, I think another role of keys is to keep them together so that they don't get lost, since they are important items.
Considering these things, I think the function required of a key case is to "cover and organize the keys."
Surprisingly, when asked why people need key cases, many people say they've been using them for many years and just feel like they're using them.
Bell-shaped key case
MUNEKAWA produces bell-shaped key cases.
It is called bell-shaped because the shape of the leather case in which the keys are hung is similar to the structure of a bell, which makes a clanging sound.
It is sometimes described as a bell-shaped structure.
This structure makes it easier to take the key in and out.
The keys are stored by pulling the belt with a double ring (key ring) into the bag-like case.
When you want to take the key out, just unhook it and the key will pop out, which is very convenient.
It's difficult to convey this in words alone, so please take a look at the video.
The biggest advantage of a bell-shaped key case is that it allows you to easily take your keys in and out.
As the leather becomes more comfortable, it will become even easier to take things in and out.
All of our staff use this key case.
Function and durability are key
Since a key case is something you use many times throughout the day, it is important that it is easy to use.
Because it is something that is used frequently, any inconvenience caused will cause daily stress.
I think that brand and design are important factors when purchasing items, but when it comes to key cases, they are practical items that are used every day, so prioritizing functionality and ease of use will bring greater benefits every day.
Key cases are relatively fragile among leather products because they are used frequently.
There are key cases that have three or five metal links, and many people have probably had the experience of the metal link of one of the key cases (the first link) that they use most frequently becoming worn down and coming off.
For this reason, we designed it in a bell shape with a key ring so that you can use it for a long time.
Also, since keys are often made of metal, they can easily scratch leather.
For this reason, the lining that comes into contact with the key is made of abrasion-resistant pig leather.
It is resistant to friction and its soft texture makes it the perfect material to cushion the impact of keys.
In the unlikely event that something does break down, you can rest assured that we can repair it immediately.
Available in two sizes
This key case comes in two sizes: S and M.
The S size holds about 5 standard size keys.
The M size holds about 10 standard size keys.
Both the S and M sizes come with a double ring and one hook.
The hooks are useful for attaching removable locks for bicycles and other items.
The medium size can also accommodate large keys, such as keyless entry keys for cars.
However, since there are various sizes and some items may not be able to be stored, it is best to check the actual size before purchasing.
(You can actually install the key and check it at our directly managed stores.)
Car keyless entry and key case
The M size will fit most car keyless entry cases (but not all), but since the key case itself bulges, it may be a little inconvenient to put it in your trouser pocket.
Car and apartment keys are getting bigger and bigger, making it difficult to fit them in a key case.
It might be better to have a separate key for such a large key in the first place.
Keyless entry systems are equipped with sensors so that the door can often be unlocked without the need to take out the key, and people rarely even need to insert the key into the lock.
If you try to carry them together, you may end up scratching the key itself with the other keys, so carrying them separately is one way to keep them compact.
By keeping them separate rather than combining them into one, you don't have to carry around unnecessary keys, making them more portable.
Aging of leather key case
As mentioned earlier, key cases are leather products that are used frequently and are therefore prone to damage (breakdown). However, this also means that the leather is more likely to age over time.
Leather ages when rubbed or touched by human hands, so key cases are in an environment where the color of the leather can easily change.
Before and after aging
Key cases are leather items that can bring about positive changes to the leather without much thought.
We also have a page that displays images of the key cases used by our customers, so please take a look.
