今日は革財布の「ヘリ返し」という技法について書いてみたいと思います。
この工程は、カード段の一段一段に使われている事が多いです。
おそらく皆さんの使われている財布の約８割ぐらいはその様になっていると思います。
革の厚みを斜めに削ぐことで、薄くなった部分を折り返すというシンプルな構造です。
ですが、この工程がとても繊細です。
水溶性の接着剤を塗り、半乾きの状態になった時に手の感覚で、一気にヘリ返して行きます。
みてるだけだととても簡単そうにしている様に見えるのですが、手の感覚がとても重要な作業です。
このヘリ返しの工程が積み重なって、財布のカード段が出来上がって行きます。
これだけピシッと組み上げるには、０.１ｍｍの微調整が最終的に効いてきます。
