Production of a new tote bag has begun at Munekawa's workshop in Daikokucho, Osaka.
We have just started, but based on feedback from our customers and what we have felt in our daily lives, we would like to create bags that maintain a classic impression while also being practical and easy to use on a daily basis.
In this blog, we will introduce some of these new bags.
What kind of bag is new?
Tote bags are spacious, easy to use, and very useful.
I think there are probably some of you who use it regularly.
The bag we are making this time retains the ease of use of a tote bag, but is made of cotton twill and leather, giving it the classic feel that is characteristic of Munekawa .
Munekawa previously produced a tote bag called "Usual."
Like Usual, we are working to create a bag that can be used for work as well as for personal use, and that has an elegant feel without being too casual, while still fitting in with a variety of outfits.
The key feature of the new bag: the zipper opening
One thing that bothers me a little when using a tote bag is that the opening is wide .
This is one of the benefits of tote bags, as they make it easy to see what's inside and take things in and out, but it's also true that some people are a little concerned about safety and privacy.
When you're in a crowded place, such as on a train or in a crowded restaurant, you might worry about people seeing what's inside your bag, or worry about important items falling out of your bag.
Taking these safety and privacy aspects into consideration, we decided to equip this new tote bag with a zipper at the opening .
This not only prevents the contents from being seen, but also eliminates the worry of your belongings falling out, ensuring that the contents won't get wet even if it suddenly rains.
We are currently making prototypes in the workshop and adjusting the structure and design of the bags.
We conducted repeated tests from various perspectives, such as the size, structure, and materials of each part, while simulating the impression it gives when held in the hand or slung over the shoulder, as well as the hand movements when opening and closing the zipper.
What we always value in our workshop is to carefully check each step without rushing . We believe that this careful and rigorous process is necessary to ensure that our customers can use our products for a long time.
The future of new bags
The production of the new tote bag has just begun. We will take our time to adjust the details and thoroughly check the quality.
